the differences of education in Indonesia and finland
As we know,
Finland is the country with the best education system in the world. Then,
what's the difference between education in Indonesia and in Finland.
The first
difference is in the case of age of consent. in Indonesia, parents have a mindset “The younger the better” which means
that the younger or the faster they enter school, they more successful or
smarter they will be. Although still under 7 years. Whereas in Finland,
children have to wait up to 7 years. because to enter school students must be
prepared mentally and physically.
The second, in
terms of homework. In Indonesia since kindergarten students have been given
homework even often and sometimes there is a lot of difficult homework, so
students have to ask for help from parents or other people. Whereas in Finland,
homework is almost non-existent, even if given homework is not too difficult,
students can do it themselves.
Third, there is
no ranking in Finland. Because according to them rank is not needed, because
all students have their own weaknesses and advantages. so that the child will
continue to develop according to the strengths or skills they have without
feeling inferior because he/she is not included in the top 5 in school. In
short, all children will surely be able to succeed in their own way. Whereas in
Indonesia, every school ranks children who excel in class. so that it will
cause a sense of inferiority or self-confidence for students who do not have a
ranking.
The fourth
difference is about the member of students in one class. In Finland, each class
contains only 7-10 students with one teacher. So if there are 20 students in
the class then there are 2 teachers. Whereas in Indonesia, in one class can be
30-40 students with one teacher. This will create less optimal learning
activities.
The last
difference is about school hours. In Finland around 3-4 hours per day. Whereas in Indonesia around
6-8 hours per day.
After knowing
some of the differences above, there may be some of us who feel like going to
school in Finland because of the comfort of each other. However, it would be
better if we ourselves want to improve education in Indonesia, at least learn
to be a competent teacher to produce students who can bring better change to
our beloved country INDONESIA.
That is all
thank you
