Author: Bryan Collins
Page : 136
This book is for new writers, musicians, filmmaker, artist
and anyone who has ever asked questions like “how can I get become more
creative?” or, “how can I get more ideas?” or “how can I focus on my thoughts
and just let them flow?” .
If you’ve ever struggled with a problem or challenge in your
personal or professional life and thought, “I can’t do this, I’m not creative
enough”, this book will help you.
Now I would like to review the first chapter and the second
one.
1. The mirror
The first part of the book, author shows the reader to dare
to fight his fear, change his habits into more creative activities then start
dreaming and make it happen. The author conveys the idea through telling the
story when he was small and the ways he did in reaching his dream.
For several years he only read book about getting more
done, coming up with ideas, unlocking fresh thinking, changing habits, writing,
and managing To Do Lists, calendars even time itself. One morning, after his
birth day, he looked in the mirror and he said to himself that he realized he
needed to face his fears. He was a zebra who needed to change his stripes.
2. Prepare to be Inspired
For McCartney and Dali, the creative process is as much
about preparation and good habits as it is about moments of inspiration. You can
cultivate creative habits that change your life, and here’s how.
Sacrifice the
non-essentials
You must commit to spending some of your free hours alone in
your room or studio. Also sacrifice watching television, playing game, spend
time on social media, reading trashy books, enjoying late nights out or
pursuing side projects that have nothing to do with your creative passion. Because
when you sacrifice the non-essential parts of your day, you’ll gain the
momentum you need to progress your big ideas.
Feed your
subconscious
Before you drift to sleep, hold an image of what you want to
accomplish firmly in your mind. It should be something specific, like a particular
section of your book or a verse in a song you’re writing.
Said Dali in his book of 50
secrets of magic craftsmanship “… in undertaking an important pictorial
work which you are anxious to bring to a successful completion and on which
your heart is particularly set, you must before anything else begin it by
sleeping as deeply, as soundly as possible for you to do.”
that's all see you in the next post
